Biomass Sawdust Dryers/Flash Dryers
Lot of raw material contain moisture which requires a dryer to process the material to be briquetted. Ideal for plants processing saw dust, coir, coir pith, bagasse or any other material with moisture content of more than 30-35%.
Flash drying is the pre process to densification, very much like grinding. Flash dryers (one of the most commonly used Industrial Dryers) find usage in suspension drying of powdery, granulated or ground material such as coir pith, saw dust, and baggasse pith. These materials are usually with moisture content of 35% or less.
The second type of Industrial Dryer is Concentric Column Turbo Dryer which comprises a jacketed drying column. This drying column is actually a pipe which is inserted inside another bigger pipe, therefore the material passes through same drying column twice. Hence, the dyer can easily dry materials with moisture content upto 50% on wet basis. The basic turbo dryer system consists Screw Conveyor, Main Drive, Feeding Hopper, and Conveying line including insulated drying column as well as a conveyor through which wet/ moist materials pass in the presence of hot air to the cyclone. There is a powerful low pressure centrifugal fan which ensures sufficient resilience time for complete removal of excess moisture. Material is then discharged through cyclone by means of a Rotary Air Lock.
Briquettes can be made using all types of agricultural waste. Here, are certain parameters of raw material to be used:
1. Moisture should not be more than 12%
2. Material size should not exceed over 5-6mm in dia (machine specific)
If a material meets these criteria, it can be easily converted into biofuel with the help of a briquetting machine. The material has to be fed into the machine, and then it passes through the screw and gets deposited in a funnel where another screw compresses the material into the feeder box. Material is then pushed from the feeder box into die by a ram. The die (placed in heated die holder) then compresses material & squeezes out the lignin that acts as a binding agent and densifies the raw material. Material after coming out of the die holder travels through a cooling line & briquetting process is complete.
